JAC motor’s S5 has been spotted testing in the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Known locally as the T6, the S5 would be the first SUV that JAC launches in Brazil. The company had earlier confirmed that the car would be launched in October 2014, said web portal Carplace.

The T6, with its 2.0-liter JetFlex engine, will be launched in October, 2014. The car has been available in China since March 2013.

Given Brazil’s local regulations, the T6 in Brazil will – for the first time – get a JetFlex engine. As per local norms, engines in Brazil must use ethanol as one of the fuels.

The T6 measures 4,430 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, 1,660 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,645 mm. The SUV has a minimum ground clearance of 170 mm. In China, the T6 retails as the S5 and comes with a normal and a turbocharged version of the same 2.0-liter engine. While the turbocharged engine develops 118 kW, the normal engine churns out 92 kW.

The 2.0-liter JetFlex engine is said to produce 104 kW.

The site states that the newly equipped T6, with its 2.0-liter JetFlex engine, will yield around 104 kW. The site also says that it is the same engine that is offered in the J6 minivan, tuned differently in order to take in both fuels.

The J6 minivan is to be launched in September, a month before the T6, the site says.
